The birth of a new child is one of the greatest joys parents will experience in their lives, a gift and amaanah from Allah.

• It is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that when a baby is born the parents should perform an Aqeeqah for the newborn by slaughtering two goats (or sheep) for a boy, and one sheep (or goat) for a girl.
