Sadaqah is a voluntary charitable act encouraged in Islam. It is any act of kindness or generosity, encompassing a wide range of actions such as giving money, helping those in need, or even smiling at someone. Sadaqah is optional and can be given at any time and in any amount.

What is Sadaqah Jariyah?

• Sadaqah Jariyah is one of the most powerful forms of giving in Islam that provides continuous benefits and ongoing rewards for the giver, even after death. Examples include building mosques, establishing schools, water wells, medical clinics, or planting trees, as these actions offer lasting community benefits.
• These projects continue to serve the needy for years, ensuring that your rewards in the Hereafter continue to accumulate long after the initial donation is made.
• The theological basis for this is found in the narration of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
• “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a child who prays for them.” — (Sahih Muslim)
• By funding a project that provides ongoing utility, you secure a continuous stream of rewards (Hasanat) for as long as the project remains in use.

At Al-Yusr Organization, we offer four primary categories for Sadaqah Jariyah investment:

1. Water Infrastructure The Project: Construction of deep water wells, filtration systems, and water stations in drought-affected regions. The Impact: Provides a reliable source of clean water for drinking, sanitation, and agriculture. “And We made from water every living thing.” (Quran 21:30)
2. Educational Facilities The Project: Building schools, renovating classrooms, and providing long-term educational resources. The Impact: Combats illiteracy and empowers the next generation with the tools to break the cycle of poverty.
3. Medical Infrastructure The Project: Equipping hospitals, funding mobile clinics, and supplying essential medical machinery. The Impact: Restores healthcare access in conflict zones, saving lives and reducing suffering on a systemic level. “And whoever saves a life, it is as if they have saved all of mankind.” (Quran 5:32)

Donating on Behalf of Others

Sadaqah Jariyah is frequently used as a spiritual gift. You may fund a project in the name of another person to dedicate the rewards to them:

• For the Deceased: This is considered the most effective way to honor a loved one who has passed away. The ongoing rewards serve as a mercy and light for them in their grave.
• For the Living: You may also donate on behalf of parents, children, or friends to seek protection and blessings for them in this life and the next.
